Hammockcamping – the best thing to happen to camping since the campfire!
In the old days, people actually slept on the ground when they would go camping. Imagine sleeping on the cold hard ground for 10 to 12 hours a night with just a thin foam pad underneath you. The rocks and roots and crawly things trying to share your sleeping bag. Not to mention the confinement of a mummybag! They are called mummybags for a reason, you feel like a mummy when you are in one.
Flash forward to the 21st century and the enlightened camper/hiker are now hanging from trees in their camping hammocks. No hard ground to deal with. No rocks or roots poking you in the back, no wet ground, no creepy crawlies trying to get into your tent. Just the best nights sleep you ever had in the woods. Our product, the KickAssQuilt is an add-on product to camping hammocks such as the Hennessy Hammock. As shown in the photo at the top of the page, the camo area is the KickAssQuilt. It hangs underneath the Hennessey Hammock and keeps you warm and toasty all night long. See, a hammock is much like a bridge. You have airflow underneath you and that air will absorb your body heat and make you cold. So, you need some insulation underneath you to prevent the loss of precious body heat. The KickAssQuilt is just the product to do this job. It uses lightweight materials that are designed to last for years and the insulation is a synthetic called ClimaShield XP.
There are two version of the KAQ. The Potomac is designed to fit all Hennessy Asym type hammocks. The New River is designed to fit all other gathered end type hammocks like Speers, ENO, Clark, Claytor, etc.
The manufacturing process is truly a cottage industry. All KickAssQuilts are professionally sewn by me in my home in Mobile, AL. My home is smoke-free, pet-free and child-free. I only use the finest materials and take pride in each and every quilt that I make.
